Last Dawn - Brooklyn, New York

Those long weekends always roll by way to fast, don't they? I did get the chance to visit the infamous Mossy Grotto Falls this weekend. Everyone complains about the tough hike, but it kinda reminded me of being a kid again and rolling around in the mud, not all that bad:) On another note, has anyone gotten the invite for the updated Google Maps yet? It is down right awesome, but I am a maps addict, so there may be some bias there.

On a side note, I process the exact shot seen below in my Luminosity Masking Video Tutorial, grab a copy now:)

The Shot
Let's go back to the Big Apple for a bit with a sunrise from the Brooklyn Bridge. Something about those huge cables holding the thing together really helps to make any picture pop. Thankfully I had some help in the composition department, my brain was fried from walking around the city since 2 AM.

When We Were Stars - Palouse, WA

A 3 day weekend is on the way and I still have no clue where I'm headed. Apparently bad weather is headed towards to the Seattle area so maybe the Oregon Coast is a good call... I recently updated my Star Photography Post Processing Video Tutorial as well as my Free Star Photography Tutorial, so if you have some free time this weekend, give them a try, I promise you won't be disappointed:)

The Shot
After work one night around midnight we decided to hit the road and gun it towards Palouse Falls for sunrise, as we were driving through the middle of no where the Milky Way popped out so I pulled the X-Terra over and took some pics...

The Second Coming - Manhattan, New York

And..... I'm back in action after a much needed break. After relaxing for a few days I realized how much stuff I actually wanted to get done.  Some of this energy was used on post processing, but most was used on the new website which is coming along really nicely. I did sell two more spots to my Star Photography Workshops, which leaves a total of 4 remaining for the entire summer. If you have been thinking about it now would be the time to buy.

The Shot
This morning is still vivid in my mind. After catching a train from Philly and arriving in the Big Apple around 2AM on a Tuesday morning I walked the streets taking pictures until sunrise. After a beautiful sunrise on the bridge I snapped off this shot walking back to my hotel. In terms of processing I have a few new tricks up my sleeve, hopefully they reflect in this shot...

The Night Watch- Ruby Beach, WA

This will be my last day posting to the blog for a week, I am headed off to Italy for a much needed vacation. We are landing in Venice, then traveling Cinque Terre & the last destination is Rome. Hopefully there will be some great weather, lots of new pictures, along with some amazing food & lots of wine. If you want to learn some star photography while I'm gone, here are some useful links to do so.

The Shot
During my last Online Star Photography Post Processing Group Workshop we processed this shot. I really like how it turned out. The night it was taken at Ruby Beach Washington was one of the darkest nights I have ever seen. The Milky Way felt so bright that it seemed to hang right over the ocean.

As Paths Crossed & Diverged - San Francisco, California

Went out for a nice sunset shoot in Seattle tonight with my Buddy Aman. The sunset was decent but hopefully we got some good shots of the Aurora bridge, a place that I finally made it to after living in Seattle for the past 2 years. The shot below was processed using some techniques from Jaimie Ibarra, his work is absolutely awesome and his tutorial is great as well.

The Shot
San Francisco's China town is a blast, during the day, but my favorite time to shoot there is dusk. All of the Chinese style lamps light up and give the city streets an amazing glow. This guys gave a quick glance before going back to his instrument.

Golden Dreams - Goldendale, Washington

I am counting down with excitement the days until I leave for Italy. Thanks for all the great suggestions on places to visit everyone, I really appreciate it. For any of you that may be interesting in buying some of my photography to hang on your wall I made a quick and easy video to walk you through the steps. Any of the pictures that I post on here can be purchased.

The Shot
This one comes from my first trip to the Columbia Gorge and the first time shooting with my Nikon D800. I took it exactly a year ago this week in the Golden Dale area of Washington.

Misty Mountains & The House of Sheep - West Fjords, Iceland

I leave for a 10 day trip to Italy this Saturday and have decided to take a break from posting to this website while I'm gone. A nice relaxing vacation without internet sounds great just about now. On my return it will be business as usual with a shot every day less the weekends:) We are headed to Venice for the first stop, any suggestions for must see places?

If you would like to learn how I processed this shot, check out my FREE HDR Video Tutorial

The Shot
The West Fjords of Iceland are beautiful and there are more sheep than people in this part of the country. You can wander around for days and not see a soul, it's a great experience.

Impending Doom - Seattle, WA

Wow what a weekend in the Pacific Northwest, the weather was absolutely perfectly, especially for star photography  I made a trip down to Oregon & the Mount Hood Region to capture the Milky Way, along the way we were able to make the hikes to Dry Creek Falls and Tamanawas Falls, both well worth the 4-5 mile round trip hikes. I have also added the newest date for my Online Star Photography Post Processing Group Workshops, so grab a spot:)

The Shot
Sometimes the weather here in Seattle gets a bit funky, at times it's absolutely amazing for photography. Here is a shot from Kerry park, looking the oposite directly that most people normally do.

While You Were Screaming - The Dalles, WA

I really enjoy light painting and making things look a bit strange at night. After some messing around with different colors and locations you can really start to get some fun results. This is one of the topics I cover in my Summer Star Photography Workshops @ Mount Rainier. If you want to learn, grab a spot by clicking the link:)

The Shot
After some research I was able to pin down the location of this old house in Oregon. It's really a fun location and there are some other great spots to shoot & explore really close by... I thought this location would be just perfect for the 16mm f/2.8 Fisheye.

Break Water - La Push, WA

The weather if finally turning nice in Seattle, well at least for now. As Thursday rolls around it's time to make plans for the usual weekend photography trip & I need some ideas for places to shoot. The last 8 weekends have been spent on the roads of the Pacific Northwest capturing shots and camping, so maybe it's time for a break... Doubt it!

The Shot
Another shot from the Canon 7D which I still think is a great camera, it's just not D800 great...

New Dawn - Manhattan, New York

I put in another 8 hours of web design today, things are starting to come along a little bit for such a steep learning curve. Even though it's a huge paint I am actually enjoying all the stuff that goes along with the project.

There were two more signups for my In the Field Star Photography Workshops today, find out more by clicking the link or heading over to the workshops banner on the right hand side bar. I think there are only 7 left total, which will most likely sell out within 3 weeks at this rate...

The Shot:
I got on a kick of posting shots of NYC lately, but the best is yet to come. This shot on the other hand I still find really cool.
