Maui Wowi - Maui, Hawaii

Over the past 9 months I have given a few methods of uploading pictures a try. The first was uploading a picture every week, this got boring. The second was every single day, this was overwhelming, fun, but it lacked quality at times. The third I am working with now, upload a picture whenever I feel like it... ENJOYABLE! Which do you prefer for your own style of photography?

The Shot

There are a million photos from Maui on the computer that I have not yet even seen. Knowing there are some awesome moments on there can be really fun, down the road I look forward to processing the really REALLY good ones. Here is a fun fisheye shot from a beach where we had way to many drinks... and  even more after that.

While You Were Screaming - The Dalles, WA

I really enjoy light painting and making things look a bit strange at night. After some messing around with different colors and locations you can really start to get some fun results. The Shot

After some research I was able to pin down the location of this old house in Oregon. It's really a fun location and there are some other great spots to shoot & explore really close by... I thought this location would be just perfect for the 16mm f/2.8 Fisheye.

The Shot

Over the past few weekends I have had the terrible or maybe awesome habbit of skipping sleep on Friday nights and staying up until late Saturday night, this is normally for the sake of star photography & runs into the need to shoot sunrise. Around 36 hours without sleep is where things start to go wrong, at that point I crash and hope that something like I have provided below is waiting on my camera for the next day... Enjoy! PS: This is the first star photography test run with the 16mm Fisheye

Winter Falls - Latourell Creek, Oregon

Well I am back in action from a much needed break. Stepping back from photography for a few days has always helped me in many ways. The Shot

I have been hanging out the in Columbia River Gorge lately practicing up on my waterfall skills. At first falls are not as easy to shoot as you may think, and the post processing takes some effort as well. It is definitely a skill I am still getting better at.. see what you think:)

Troubled Roots - Columbia River Gorge, OR

I had a great weekend shooting waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge even when the rain started pouring down. My buddy and I decided to trek up the Oneonta Gorge, which requires chest waders, but is well worth the adventure. The place is absolutely beautiful especially when rain is pouring down the sides and the sunlight is making everything neon green. Here is an iPhone action shot of Paul trudging through the deep cold water. You can see the rain pouring down from both sides. On another fun note King5 News in Seattle did a short article on my Star Photography that you may enjoy!

The Shot

I have been driving the 3 short hours down Oregon and exploring the waterfalls and beautiful landscapes a few of the past weekends. Here is a shot I took in the woods near the Women's Forum on the Oregon side of the Columbia River.

When Dreams Come True - Seattle, WA

Finding new places to shoot in Seattle is becoming more and more of a challenge. I did manage to find some cool new spots to explore lately, and the wild weather has made for some pretty cool shots. Discovery Park is it's own little world on the outskirts of Seattle which provides some nature hidden within all the chaos of a fairly big city. In terms of escaping for a few hours, there really isn't a better place! Here is another fun shot from my Nikkor 16mm Fisheye lens.

Well I'm on a roll why not post another shot from my trip to Oregon a few weeks back. Normally I let these sit around for a while longer brewing in the slurry of photos just waiting to be set free into the online world. Here is one from Lower Punchbowl Falls looking the opposite way as most shots you see from this spot.

I took this one at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia This place is worth a few hours of your time to walk around and explore or take pictures. All of the rooms are really cool and some of them have paintings and art.

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow - Seattle, WA

I have a pretty solid urge to head out and shoot on the Olympic Peninsula this weekend. The rain forest is always an amazing place to wander or snap off some shots. There is one lonely spot left in my Online Star Photography Post Processing Group Workshop who wants it?

Express Yourself

Everyday I learn new things about photography & Photoshop, but sometimes the inspiration runs dry and I need something new to spark my artistic side. Today I tried messing around with some different types of post processing as well as digital painting. I included my first digital painting/print at the bottom of this post.

The Shot

Here is another 16mm fisheye shot from the Seattle Center. This lens kicks ass, and I currently shoot with it everywhere I go. It is nearly 1/4 the size of the massive Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G and it may currently be my favorite lens to mix it up with.

The Shot

Walking around downtown Seattle the first night after getting my Nikkor 16mm f/2.8 Fisheye opened other worlds for me. I also had a run in with the usual power tripping security guard. He came up to me and told me that I would need to stop taking pictures of the building. Of course I responded with a line on how it was never illegal to take pictures. He proceeded to tell me he would call the cops. This was a great time to slam him for not being able to do the job himself... I went ahead with the diss, and he filed a hurt feelings report. Needless to say he eventually stood to the side as I snapped off a few shots... On a different note, this fisheye captures massive file sizes this one was 62MB and had to be downsized for the post. Enjoy!

Got home from Maui yesterday afternoon sporting a hangover and 3000 pictures. This morning was spent trashing the bad ones and organizing the good ones in Lightroom 4. Who else hates that task? I really wanted to put it off but figured I'd be productive.

This is my first posted shot using my new Nikkor 16mm f/2.8 fisheye lens & man this thing is amazing. I have been using it nearly as much as my 14-24mm lately. I'll post a review on my Lens Reviews Page later this afternoon.
